"In the early 90s, Sun Ra had a series of strokes. The first was fairly devastating. He was taken to the very nearby German town hospital where the usual procedures for a person brought in with a stroke were done: fingers being held up, names being listed, and where were you born, and so on. And he said that he was born on Saturn, at which point, the cardiologist asked to have a neurologist to come down to examine him. And the neurologist got there and [the cardiologist] says “he says his name is Sun Ra and he was born on Saturn.” And the neurologist said, “well, this is Sun Ra and of course he was born on Saturn!"
